Maggie Pearson is a textile artist living and practising in Liverpool. In her botanical contact printing [also known as "eco" printing], she uses leaves principally from the City of Liverpool to create unique, hand printed designs on natural fibres.... fabric and paper. She draws her inspiration from Liverpool's rich natural environment and its exotic botanical diversity, which reflects the city's trading history.
Each of Maggie's unique pieces is individually designed and printed by hand. She bundles locally grown flowers and leaves with natural fibres and steams them over water, or simmers them in a dye bath, to create her individual prints. She also makes and uses natural dyes.
Maggie delivers introductory and more advanced workshops on botanical contact printing and also undertakes commissions. If you see something here which you like, in the gallery of photos or sold in the shop, or don't quite see what you are looking for, then please contact Maggie by email at to discuss your requirements.
The spring leaves are here and Maggie has been stitching face masks, scrubs and headbands for key workers in the NHS and social care in between printing textiles and papers.
Clearly, all makers' fairs and Maggie's workshops have been cancelled during the lockdown.
If you are looking for a unique gift for yourself or a loved one, please contact Maggie direct by email at to discuss your what you are looking for. She will strive hard to meet your requirements from her existing stock, or by making something bespoke.
"I bought a scarf from Maggie and gave it to a friend as a present. She absolutely loves it and its subtle tones, and has worn it ever since."

"Thank you for a very enjoyable course. I had a lovely day, learned a lot and was really pleased with what I produced."
"I really enjoyed the workshop. I feel more confident and enthusiastic to experiment now, as I understand some of the basic principles. "
"This was a fabulous day with Maggie.
All the processes were clearly explained and questions expertly answered.
The workshop was delivered in a relaxed and encouraging way and was an ideal introduction to “Eco” printing.
The results given by the onion skins on the silk scarves were lovely.
Would like to book another to develop my knowledge of the subject.
Welcome to my shop. Have a good browse. If you see something you like, but it has been sold, please contact me at
to see if I can make something similar. I often can, depending on the season and whether the leaves are available. I regularly take commissions, and am very happy to discuss your requirements
