About the Event

This two day workshop will build on your prior knowledge of the basic principles and practice of botanical printing.

On the Saturday we will explore different ways of applying iron to create well defined prints, and go on to combine it with tannins to produce elegant, muted backgroundsm using carrier blankets.

On the Sunday, we will apply natural dyes to the botanical contact printing process to generate joyful, colourful backgrounds. You will learn about mordanting cloth and explore how different leaves vary in their interactions with dyes. We will also consider how iron can modify natural natural dye colour.

There will be plenty of time to enjoy the fabulous environment of the Grade II* Listed Palm House.

Tea and coffee will be provided all day, and there is a cafe at the Palm House where you can buy lunch and snacks [or you can bring your own].

If you wish to attend only one day of the workshop, please contact Maggie directly at hello@bymaggienaturally.co.uk, and she will try to accommodate you.
