About the event

Tannins and iron play a key role in botanical eco printing and some natural dyeing. This workshop will explore local sources of tannins, how to create tannin solutions from common plants and foodstuffs and how they can be used to create different and striking backgrounds to prints and patterns on cloth.

In Day One we will create some tannin solutions and print samples with different tannin and iron solutions to explore their varying effects on botanical prints and patterns on cloth samples.

In Day Two, you will draw on your learning from Day One to choose which tannins you wish to use to create prints and patterns of your choice.
